Selva
A little introduction

Oihana Cuevas San Felipe, also known as Selva, is a composer and sound designer for films. Born and based in Montreal, her Spanish and Latin roots have always nourished her artistic sensibility.
Initially trained in electroacoustic music at CEGEP of Saint-Laurent, Selva continued her studies at the University of Montréal, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in mixed composition—a now former program focused on instrumental and electronic experimentation—under the direction of Pierre Michaud. She is currently completing her master's degree in film composition at the same university with Olivier Alary. Her project focuses on the integration of vocal music into cinematic narrative.
Selva's artistic approach is marked by a notable influence from theater, literature, and contemporary music, with a minimalist style influenced by figures such as Arvo Pärt and Meredith Monk. Fascinated by the emotional power of sound, she explores music's ability to transform the perception of an image, underscore its message, and tell stories through sound. Selva's music lies between the experimental, the ambient, and the narrative, with a particular interest in creating soundscapes that dialogue with the image. Her work seeks not only to accompany but also to expand the emotional dimension of cinema through sound.
Her recent projects include two notable short films: Can You Open The Door?, presented at the Stockholm City Film Festival, and 3X2³, selected for the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
